These age-defying roses can last for years -- and cost up to $80,000

A luxury florist in Dubai has created roses that it says can last for years.

Forever Rose London, which began life in the UK, says it is able to drastically slow the flowers' natural decaying process. It uses roses grown near Quito, Ecuador, because the volcanic soil there produces petals sturdy enough to withstand the preservation procedure, according to Ebraheem Al Samadi, who founded the company.

The roses are treated with glycerin to preserve them, sent through a drying process, and once ready, displayed under glass domes for added protection.

Other companies also use glycerin to preserve roses for long periods, but Forever Rose's opulent creations are among the world's most expensive. With arrangements costing up to $80,000, the roses attract high-end customers and unusual requests, ranging from displays in the shape of the Eiffel Tower to colorful floral unicorns.
